Guidelines
  • This is your opportunity to highlight your projects, policies, and guidelines that are making a tangible difference in protecting the environment, supporting empowerment and inclusivity of people, and educating travellers.
  • Each category has criteria which should be reviewed and used as a beacon to support your application. Some smaller organisations may not feel they meet all the criteria, but we encourage you to submit your application as many of these projects may be inspirational to others and each application will be judged on its own merit.
  • The word count is to help summarise your efforts. Your supporting documentation will be used to further clarify your work.
  • Organisations can submit up to TWO categories.
  • Media submission to be within the last two to three years.
  • Please include two external references that can vouch for your work.
  • Ideal if you can make a video showcasing your project, facility, or team and highlight why you all think you deserve to win this award based on the impact of your project or organization. Whilst we prefer a video, you can provide a PowerPoint recording as an alternative.
  • The submission closing date is 9 May 2025. Finalists will be announced by 10 June 2025. The awards will be announced at the Experience Africa event in London on the evening of 23 June 2025.
  • All applications must be received by the specified deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • A maximum of TWO applications may be submitted per organisation.
  • Applicants must be legal entities or individuals operating within the African tourism industry.
  • By submitting an application, the applicant grants ATTA® and ATTA® Events the right to use any information not marked CONFIDENTIAL for promotional purposes related to the awards.
  • All information provided in the application must be accurate and truthful. Any false or misleading information may result in disqualification.
  • Applicants are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions and licenses for any copyrighted material included in their submission.
  • The decision of the judging panel is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the results.
  • ATTA® and ATTA® Events reserve the right to modify or cancel the awards.
  • On completion and submission of your nomination electronically through our secure online portal, you will receive an automated email notification acknowledging receipt.
  • Your application will be reviewed internally to ensure it meets the eligibility criteria and category focus.
  • Applications that meet the criteria will be scored based on a pre-defined set of judging criteria specific to each award category. These will be sent electronically to the judges, who will have a deadline for scoring.
  • The panel of independent judges with expertise in responsible tourism, sustainable practices, and the African tourism industry will evaluate the shortlisted applications.
  • Judges will not be involved in the nomination or screening process to ensure impartiality.
  • Judges will use an online scoring sheet to evaluate each shortlisted application based on the established criteria for the respective award category. A double judging scoring check process applies.
  • Scores from all judges will be compiled with their justification, and the application with the highest overall score will be declared the winner for each category.
  • Runner-up positions may also be selected based on the judges’ discretion.
  • Winners and runners-up will be announced at Experience Africa and through ATTA® and ATTA® Events’ social media channels.
